OBITUARY Malcolm E. Snyder April 27, 1937 – July 13, 2018 Malcolm Edward Snyder was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska April 27, 1937 to Mr. & Mrs. Earl Snyder. He died at Brookdale Senior Living at the Tech Center in Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Haddah Cheatum, brother Robert and wife Ruth, and sister Marilyn Clark Werry.

Malcolm grew up playing little league sports and caddying at the original Scottsbluff Country Club. He played golf on the original high school golf team at Scottsbluff High School. He loved football and golf which he played into retirement.

He was a big fan of the Denver Broncos since their early beginning. He mowed lawns and painted homes while growing up. He built model airplanes and flew them, and later did this hobby with his son Jon.

At age 14, he made a trip to San Diego, with friends for competition. He went to Chicago and New York City at age 13 with his Dad and Grandmother for a business trip and enjoyed professional baseball teams play at both cities. The New York Yankees were always his favorite team.

Malcolm was also a skilled pool player and hunted ducks and pheasants with his dad and brother. He and his wife Marilyn started dating at age 16 and later married at age 20, June 23, 1957 in Scottsbluff at the Methodist Church. They were married 61 years.

Malcolm had attended “Band Day” at the University of Colorado in Boulder while in high school and fell in love with CU. After high school he enrolled in Architecture at CU, and two years later he changed majors to Architectural Engineering because of his love for math and science. He graduated in 1960.

He worked as a county surveyor while in college and then as a projectionist at CU. Malcolm was a hard worker, even at home. He liked yard work, painting and finishing basements.

He had a tremendous amount of energy. Malcolm was employed by Stearns-Roger Engineering Corp for 24 years as a professional Structural Engineer and later as a “Project Engineer”. He helped build many petroleum and petrol chemical plants throughout the United States and Canada.

He also built one in Jamaica and Aruba. In 1985 Malcolm started working for the City of Denver as the Director of the Building Department and later as a “Project Manager” in the Design and Construction Department. He helped build many recreation centers and additions throughout Denver.

He worked on the original Mile High Stadium expansion and the sky boxes. He retired in 2000 and after making repairs to the house, he started playing golf and enjoying family. Malcolm and Marilyn have three children: Tom (Sue) Snyder, Jon Snyder, and Cheryl (Henry) Weibler.

They have four grandchildren: Luke (Laura) Snyder, Megan (Aaron) Johnson, Katie (Karl) Tankersley, and Faith Snyder. When the boys were very young, Malcolm bought them a small train set that they all loved. It led to a hobby that Tom, Jon and their Dad spent hours doing together.

Our daughter Cheryl came along in 1973 and there was an abundance of love for her and never a dull moment! She was a beautiful competitive swimmer. Later to have grandchildren completed our lives.

For us 61 years went very fast. Our belief in God and always being there for each other and feeling loved was every day. Bible verse: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

(John 3:16). Malcolm had a long battle with Dementia, Lymphoma Cancer, and Meniere’s disease. If you so desire, Cancer would be his choice of charity.
