Obituary for Mansoureh Mireskandari Mansoureh Mireskandari was born in Tehran, Iran on April 23, 1924. Her father, Seyed Razi Mireskandari, an Islamic scholar in his own right, homeschooled her from an early age. His influence fueled her passion for knowledge, a passion that defined her nearly 94 years of life.

Despite facing countless challenges, including the early loss of her own mother, Sakine Khaton Mireskandari, she thrived. She was a strong lady, a fighter to the end. One of the first women to attend Tehran University, she studied Persian literature.

After earning her Ph.D., she went on to become a principal in Iran. During her 30-year tenure as a principal at both public and private high schools, she touched the lives of thousands of students. At the same time, her children, including Mitra, Minoo, Mina, and Zahra, can attest to the fierceness with which she loved her family.

For the most part, she raised her children alone, acting as mother and father to them, both in Iran and then here in the United States. During her time here, she played a huge role in her grandchildren’s lives as well, regarding them as her own children. Her youthful energy, wise words (sometimes borrowed from Persian poets whose verses she’d recite from memory), and sharp wit were staples of her personality.

Her generosity and kindness essential to her character. In her nearly 94 years of life, she touched so many with her love and light. She was extraordinary in every way.

Today, on her 94th birthday, and every day, we will celebrate her. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mansoureh Mireskandari please visit our Sympathy Store. Upcoming Events Funeral Ceremony 2018 APR 23.
