Obituary of Maralee C. Upright Remsen- Maralee C. Upright. 85, formerly of Pritchard Road, and Main St., Remsen, widow of Joseph F., passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, while surrounded by the loving care of her family. Maralee was born in the Town of Remsen, on June 3, 1933, a daughter of Chester H., and Bertha E. Kilb Clark.

Her entire life was spent in the vicinity of Remsen, where she graduated from high school, with the Class of 1951. Mrs. Upright was employed as a waitress, first at the Butterfield House, Holland Patent, and then for many years at the Buffalo Head Restaurant, Forestport, retiring in 1977. For a time Maralee was also employed as a Clerk Typist, at Griffiss Airforce Base, Rome.

On August 2, 1952, Maralee was united in marriage with Joseph F. Upright, at the Remsen Methodist Church. For 38 years, the couple lived on Pritchard Road, later moving to Old State Rt. 12 and then Main St. in Remsen, before residing at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, since 2010.

Mr. Upright, a retiree from NYS Highway Department, Alder Creek, passed away on June 4, 2002. Mrs. Upright had attended the Remsen United Methodist Church. Maralee greatly enjoyed her role as home maker and wife to her husband Joe, and providing for her children.

Her husband Joe was a resident at Sunset for 22 years; during that time, Maralee served as a volunteer at the nursing home, continuing in that capacity after her husband passed away and while she was a resident at the nursing home. She always paid special attention for the welfare of residents who did not have family or friends to visit. Her presence at the nursing home will be sorely missed.

She is survived by two sons Douglas C. Upright, Fort Mill, SC, and Steven J. (Patricia) Upright, Remsen; one grandson, Jesse (Breann) and their children, Caleb and Eva, all Stittville; step grandsons, Damon (Amy) Ralph, CT, Mitchell Clark, Albany; step great grandsons, Blake Clark, Remsen and Mitchell Clark, Jr. Florida. Also surviving is one sister, Beatrice Buhite and her sister in law, Mary Clark, both residents at Sunset. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Clark.

Maralee’s family wishes to extent a note of sincere and heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and management of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, for all of the kindness, care and compassion which they extended to Maralee over the years. Her Funeral will be Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be Thursday from 1-3 P.M. and 5-7 P.M. Interment will be in the spring in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen.
