A member of the 1941 graduating class of Sidney High School, she enjoyed playing in the accordion quartet. Her love of music continued throughout her life, entertaining many people with organ music at family gatherings, holidays and playing for the residents at Fair Haven for Catholic Hour and monthly Mass. A stay at home mom raising her eight children gave her much love and challenges.
She attended Sinclair Community College to obtain her certificate as a dietician, which she put to work in later years at Wilson Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria. Marcella instilled in her family the importance of serving others in the neighborhood, Holy Angels Parish, community and anyone who needed assistance. She recognized that God blessed her with many talents and she shared her time, talents and treasures with those who crossed her path.
As one of the original volunteers at FISH, she served at the thrift store for over 30 years. Holy Angels Parish was blessed by her giving heart as sacristan, Eucharistic lay distributor to shut-ins and hospital patients, assisting with funeral luncheons for Altar Rosary Society, proud Senior Angel at Holy Angels Grade School, and current member of the Schoenstatt Group. When her health allowed, she enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives and friends, music and reading.
Always grateful and appreciative, her life at The Landings gave her new experiences and friends who will greatly miss her smile and kindness. Family extends sincere appreciation to the staff at The Landings and Heartland Hospice for their love, dedication and respect shown to “Shorty” for the past four years.
