Marcia LaVoy Marchesi, a resident of Darien and Rowayton for 49 years, passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 3, 2018, at her home in Darien, CT, surrounded by her family. She was 81 years old. Marcia was born on September 4, 1937 in Providence, RI.

She grew up in Chepachet, RI and graduated from Burrillville High School. In 1957 she married her husband of 36 years, Robert J. Marchesi. She and Bob moved around the country for Bob’s career, until they settled in Darien in 1969.

Marcia graduated from Norwalk Community College and managed the Darien Printing Center for more than a decade. She also remained active in the family business, Midatlantic Telecom, Inc., founded by her late husband. Marcia was renowned for her love and devotion to her family, immeasurable generosity, feisty spirit, passion for cooking and gardening, and appetite for travel.

She also enjoyed many years summering on Block Island, RI, at the family’s home. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Velma (Atwood) LaVoy and Sanford LaVoy, Sr., her husband Robert J. Marchesi, as well as by two of her children Douglas J. Marchesi and Robin L. Marchesi, and her brother Sanford (Butch) LaVoy. Marcia is survived by two of her sons, and their wives, Robert P. Marchesi and Margaret (Maggie) Marchesi, and Craig J. Marchesi and Stephanie Marchesi; as well as by five grandchildren, Kelly Dillon, Amy Marchesi, Kimber Marchesi, Robert Marchesi and Christian Marchesi, and her sister Cynthia Wittingslow.

Marcia will be interred, with her husband, at St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain, CT, at a private service for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Darien Little League, P.O. Box 2108, Darien, CT 06820; Darien Junior Football League, P.O.
