Margaret A. “Peggy” Kraus June 11, 1936 – January 1, 2019 Margaret “Peggy” Kraus, 82 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away peacefully January 1, 2019 at the Pickering House. Peggy was born in Mt. Sterling, Ohio to Dwight and Burdetta (Graham) Hill.

She was the middle child of three girls. Peggy worked at various places over the years, including S. S. Kresge’s (where she met Johnny), Drew Shoes, Hart’s Department Store, and also cleaned homes for various people in Lancaster. After moving to Lancaster in 1970, she had ample ground to build a lovely garden each year.

She loved cultivating the land and watching the fruits of her labor grow. She always credited her husband, Johnny for making her self-sufficient and quite the handy woman. She also was a great seamstress and altered clothes for a great many, including making matching dresses for her daughters when they were young and money was tight.

Peggy also enjoyed crocheting, bird watching and puzzles. She always had a warm smile that would light up a room. She loved helping people and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Johnny of 63 years; daughters, Loretta (Jeff) Clark of Lancaster, Jo (Kevin King) Ford of Westerville, and Peggy (Tim) Hall of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kristin Kraus, Kevin and Kent Ford, Samantha and Betsy Noll, Adam King, Talena (Matt) Hall, and Tim (Svetlana) Clark; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight and Burdetta Hill, father and mother-in-law, Henry and Alvina Kraus, sisters, Patricia Foltz and Mary Lou Moore, and son-in-law Mark “Bubba” Ford. Friends may visit Saturday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster, Ohio.

Caring Cremation will take place immediately after. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to FairHoPe Hospice and Palliative Care, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Special thank you to Drs.
