Margaret Ann Williams April 08, 1949 – April 26, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Margaret Ann Williams was born on April 8, 1949 to the late Geneva Richardson and Frank Branch in Savannah, Georgia. At the young age of 9, Margaret and her brother Anthony moved to New York City. Margaret graduated from Washington Irving High School, and attended Nursing School for Pediatric Care until she became pregnant with her first born daughter, Genell.

Margaret shared a tight bond with her oldest brothers, uncle, and cousins; exploring all the entertainment spots New York City offered. Margaret would eventually go back into the medical field taking care of the elderly until she started her career and retired from the New York City Housing Authority. Margaret’s biggest accomplishments were her children, Genell, Tara, Lamont, Melvin, Shabazz and Lashawn.

Margaret was a lover of music, fashion, education, family, gambling, and scratch offs. You could catch her at the nearby store talking to everyone, sipping a cup of coffee, and playing her numbers. Margaret could make you laugh with her many facial expressions and great sense of humor.

In 2014, Margaret was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer; because of her stubbornness she refused to believe she was sick. She went on to beat the odds, amazing not only her doctors but everyone around her. Margaret fought this illness like a warrior for 5 years.

On April 26th, God told Margaret enough fighting it’s time to rest. Margaret leaves behind: three daughters, Genell, Tara and Lashawn; two sons, Melvin and Shabazz; four grandchildren, Monea, Ryan, Mason, and Bells; five sisters, Florence, Theresa, Jeanette, Francina and Sandy; brother, James; and her uncle, Willie; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There is pleasure knowing Margaret will be laid to rest with her son, Lamont; mother, Geneva; aunt, Lovest Mae; sister, Yvonne; nephews, Julius, Dayshawn and Terrance; and her cousin, Melvin in Bultler, New Jersey.
