Obituary for Margaret Shimkanon (Fitzgerald) Margaret E. “Maggie” Shimkanon, 75, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Monday, October 22, 2018. She was born on November 7, 1942, in Shippensburg a daughter of the late Naomi Fitzgerald Rebok and married Arthur P. Shimkanon on July 2, 1965, in Shippensburg. In her younger years, Maggie worked as a seamstress at several of the former local garment factories.

She also worked for a time at Shippensburg University; Nancy Grayson Elementary; and at the Blue Mountain rest stop, from where she retired in 2006. In her free time, Maggie enjoyed cooking, shopping, and collecting Cherished Teddies and other stuffed bears. In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, Art, she is survived by her son, Brian M. Shimkanon and wife Denise of Shippensburg; her step-son, Arthur P. Shimkanon, Jr. and wife Pansy of Shippensburg; her granddaughter, Felicia M. Shimkanon of Shippensburg; her great granddaughter, Layla Nicole of Shippensburg; her brother, William Rebok of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, Maggie was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie, Betty, and Phyllis. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Richard L. Reese will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Cleversburg Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
