Margaret Elizabeth Matta March 04, 1925 – May 24, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Margaret Elizabeth (Wargo) Matta, 94, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Versailles, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. She joins her husband, the late Joseph D. Matta, Sr, who passed away July 18, 2007. Margaret was born March 4, 1925 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Dobransky) Wargo.

She was an amazing person who truly lived for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved us all unconditionally and made each of us feel special and important. She will be remembered as a wonderfully creative and dedicated homemaker who loved her family deeply and gave so much of herself to everyone she cared about.

During WWII, she aided the war effort by working at the US Steel Christy Park Works in McKeesport that were converted to produce Ammunition Shells. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Christy Park. She is survived by her children, Christine M. (Daniel) Gretz of Liberty Borough, Victoria K. (John) Hornfeck of North Huntingdon, David M. (Andrea) Matta of Port Vue, Joseph D. (Debra) Matta of McKeesport, grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) Gretz of Lockport, NY, Christopher (Robin) Gretz and Craig Gretz of Liberty Borough, Rochelle (Antonio) Sapone of Findley Township, Jonette Wardman of Elizabeth Township, Paul (Rachel) Matta of North Hollywood, CA, Dustin Matta of Port Vue, Joseph (Nicole) Matta III, of White Oak, Jessica and Jacob Matta of McKeesport, great-grandchildren, Evan and Avery Gretz, Justin and Jordan Wardman, Isabella and Santino Sapone, Callie and Joseph Matta IV, and Cayden Reitz, brother, Thomas (Bernadette) Wargo of Palm Harbor, FL, sister-in-law, Patricia Kiss of McKeesport, God Daughter, Diane Ketterer of Aliquippa, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert A. Wargo who died February 10, 2013 and Basil R. Wargo who died June 11, 2013. Liturgy of the Word Service will be celebrated at St. Patrick Parish on Thursday. May 30, 2019 at 11 am. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
