Margaret G. Rathje, age 96, of Annandale died Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Annandale Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Margaret Geraldine Rathje was born December 27, 1922 to Jacob and Minnie (Wurm) Paumen on the family farm near Maple Lake, Minnesota. Margaret attended country school in Corinna Township. On August 26, 1941 Margaret was united in holy matrimony to Herbert C. Rathje at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake.

Together with Herb, Margaret worked the land and raised livestock on their farm. In addition to farming duties, Margaret also cared for their home while also raising their six children. Margaret also worked for the Carlson Doll Company in Maple Lake sewing clothes.

Margaret was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church where she was involved with various church organizations such as the CCW. In her spare time, Margaret tended to her flower and vegetable gardens, was a wonderful seamstress, and gifted quilter. She will fondly be remembered for her hearty, homecooked meals.

Margaret is survived by her children, Delores (Jerry) Nelson of Bloomington, Kenneth (Connie) of Annandale, Wayne (Lesley) of Annandale, Lois (Larry) Jensen of Kimball, Mary (Rollie) Lange of Cambridge, and Janice (Duane) Matter of Delano; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lester (Darlene) Paumen of Maple Lake, Doris Mae Guggemos of Buffalo, Orville (Rita) Paumen of Maple Lake, and Beatrice (Doug) Psyk of Albertville; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; granddaughter, Meagan Lange; parents, Jacob & Minnie Paumen; brothers, Clifford and Clayton Paumen; and other dear family members. Mark Rathje, Scott Nelson, Jeff Nelson, Dave Nelson, Eric Jensen, Kurt Jensen, and Nate Matter will serve as pallbearers.

Tom Schreiner and St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
