Obituary for Margaret Slaughter Margaret Slaughter of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Rensselaer Care Center. Margaret Slaughter was born in Rensselaer on November 16, 1939, the daughter of Gail and Lucille (Kanne) Wood. A lifetime resident of Rensselaer, Margaret graduated from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1958.

She was a homemaker raising three children. Margaret worked at the Rensselaer Central Middle School as a cook for many years and loved every minute of it. On November 22,1958 in Rensselaer, Margaret married Paul E. Slaughter who passed away in 2006.

Together they became parents of Michael Slaughter of Rensselaer, Mary (Kevin) Scheurich of Rensselaer, and Mark (Cindy) Slaughter of Wheatfield, IN. Surviving with her loving family are her grandchildren, Breann (Chad) Wilson, Morgan (Nicole) Scheurich, Kacey (Cole) Patrick, Jason, Vincent, Ella, Dominic and Isaac Slaughter. Two great-grandsons, Chance and Mason Wilson.

Margaret is survived by one brother Glen (Linda) Wood of Rensselaer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother George Wood. Friends will be received at the Saint Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at the Saint Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer with Father Don Davison officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorials are suggested the Alzheimer Association, St. Augustine Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
