Margaret V. Overmyer, 98, formerly of Champaign, died the morning of Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Arbor Rose Assisted Living in Tolono. Owens Funeral Home will hold a visitation on Monday, December 10 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 405 West Clark, Champaign from 9:30-10:30 am. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 at the church with Fr.

Joseph Donton officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Marge was born on July 21, 1920 in Champaign to Walter and Nellie (Bradley) Pfeifer.

She married Paul Overmyer on July 15, 1937 in Covington, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989 and by her son, Max Overmyer in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Martin) Oakes of Tolono and her daughter-in-law, Karen Overmyer of Champaign; 5 grandchildren, Roger (Lori) Oakes of Tolono, Laurie (Steve) Fisher of Tolono, Kathy (Scott) Peters of Champaign, Rory (Sue) Overmyer of Champaign and Jodie Overmyer of AZ; 6 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Marge was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross. She was also an over 50-year member of the Women of the Moose. Marge volunteered many years as an Election Judge.

In her early years, she also worked at Chris’s Candy Shop in downtown Champaign. One of her favorite activities was going to the Quarterback Club and cheering for the Illini. Later in life, Marge took great joy in her many grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Arbor Rose Assisted Living, for the loving care that they gave to Marge.
