OBITUARY Margaret Vance Smith February 23, 1919 – July 21, 2018 99, passed away Saturday, July 21st, 2018. Born in Tampa on February 23, 1919, she was the only child of William Paul Vance and Margaret Harris Vance. She attended Gorrie Elementary, Wilson Junior High, Plant High School, and finished her education at Florida State College for Women.

She enjoyed playing bridge, and achieved the level of NABC Master. She was a loyal member of Chi Omega, Junior League of Tampa, Amaryllis Garden Club, Rose Society, and Tampa Preservation Inc She was a past member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, Tampa Yacht Club and the Centre Club.

Margaret was predeceased by her father and mother, Paul and Margaret Harris Vance. She is survived by her son, H. Vance Smith (Nootchie); daughter, Mary Margaret (Sam) Dolcimascolo; grandchildren: C. Vance (Courtney) Smith, Layton (Erin) Smith, Cam Smith, Paul (Jessica) Dolcimascolo, and Mollie Dolcimascolo; and eight great-grandchildren. Margaret’s family will be forever grateful to the special care and kindness given by numerous ladies over the years, especially Stella Keith.

A private family service will take place Friday morning at St. John’s Episcopal Church. A reception for friends and family will be held Friday, July 27th from 4-6pm at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Margaret’s name to Southeastern Guide Dogs at 4210 77th Street E. Palmetta, FL 34221, or to a charity of your choice.
