Obituary for Margie Re Claussen Margie Re Claussen, age 97, of Rensselaer Indiana passed away at her home on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Margie was born to Everette and Minnie May (Gilman) McCollough on March 22, 1921, in Goodland, Indiana. She was raised in Goodland, graduating from Goodland High School with the class of 1939.
On July 16, 1942, in Goodland, Margie and Raymond J. Claussen were united in marriage. They were the parents of three children, Linda Emerson, Beverly (husband Paul) Dunlap and Charles “Butch” (wife Mary) Claussen all of Rensselaer. Margie was the bookkeeper for 30 years at Claussen Equipment which she and her husband owned and operated.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Rensselaer where she was a former Sunday School, a past Deaconess and helped to prepare the weekly Tuesday luncheons for the Rensselaer Rotary Club. Margie enjoyed people and could be found reaching out to help others. She liked to sit down with a good book and reading mystery novels.
Surviving with her children are five grandchildren, Shelley Sigman, Angela Patton, Christopher Claussen, Cary Claussen and Melissa Fleming, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Claussen on January 4, 2012, a son-in-law, Lee Emerson, her parents, and one brother. Friends will be received by the family at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m..
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Rev. Elizabeth Hartmann officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer.
