Marguerite was born to Joseph and Vera Marcoux on May 17, 1935. She was born in Everett, Massachusetts. She attended Catholic grade school and Everett Catholic Girls High School.

She was the top of the class-very intelligent and determined to achieve. She graduated from high school with highest honors and was elected to the National Honors Society. She worked for the Massachusetts phone company doing drafting and was appointed head of the drafting department.

She married Herb Gilbert and raised four children. The family moved to Covina, California in 1955. Marguerite was an accomplished pianist in high school and played with a quartet of 4 piano players on radio and in down town Boston during her high school years.

During the years of raising her children she taught piano in her home. She also held jobs as a book keeper and credit union manager. She married Philip Powers in 1980 and became step mother to his two sons, Paul and Matt.

She was a real estate agent for 12 years in Diamond Bar, California. Marguerite and her husband Philip moved to Prescott in 1996. They did extensive traveling in their fifth wheel trailer.

She greatly enjoyed her work as a docent at the Heritage Park Zoo where she led groups of children on tours. Marguerite was a lover of nature often seeing wild-life at their home in Williamson Valley. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, and using her sewing machines on various projects.

Marguerite and Phil were members of the Mile High Square Dance Club and participated in dancing often traveling to campouts at square dances. Marguerite is survived by her children: Steve Gilbert (Tehachapi, Ca); Michael Gilbert (Ithica, NY); Diane Wright (Coeur D’Alene, Id); David Gilbert (Spokane, Wa); stepchildren: Paul Powers (San Bernadino, Ca); Matt Powers (Tacoma, Wa). In lieu of flowers memorials or donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 27, 2018 from 1-5pm at ABC Chino Valley.
