Maria Christine Atkins, age 50, of Unicoi, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Unicoi County, Maria is a daughter of the late Billy Joe Atkins and the late Christine (Wheeler) Hutchins. In addition to her parents, Maria is preceded in death by her brothers: Randall Keith Atkins and George Hutchins, Jr. Maria enjoyed house plants and loved her animals.

She was a loving mother. Those left to cherish Maria’s memory include: son, Nicholas Alexander Atkins of Unicoi; brother, Chris Atkins and wife, Donna of Erwin; aunts, Donna Miller and husband Kenneth, Betty Falk, and LoVada O’Leary; and several cousins. A private memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019.
