Maria J. Ogden passed away on January 18, 2019, at age 91. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Juana Reza and Rafael E. Rivas, and sister Esther Medina. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alan Ogden, children Alan C. Ogden (Ana), Irma M. Lopez and Jo¬Ann Geiselman, grandchildren Krystal N. Guenther (Darrell), Lovelia McCarthy (Ruth), Ariel Lopez, Adriel Lopez and Alyssa Lopez, brother Manuel Rivas (Connie), sister Angie Robles (Joe) brother-in-law John-Ogden and 4 nieces, 4 nephews, and many other loved ones.

She was born in Juarez, Mexico, and at 3 months of age she immigrated to the United States, living for a short period of time in Tucson, AZ and then in EI Paso for most of her life. She followed her husband to New England for one and a half years and then to Memphis, TN for 4 years, but her heart was always in EI Paso. She gave up working shortly after marriage and worked hard at being a good mother, grandmother and wife for the rest of her life.

Maria was a life-long member of the Catholic Church, finding churches no matter where her travels took her. She was a bowler for over 50 years in her military and MetLife travels. A 1949 graduate from Bowie HS, she helped in founding the Bowie ’49er Club in 1968 for the 20th class reunion.

She remained active in the club for the rest of her life. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at William Beaumont Hospital, especially Dr. Ford and Dr. Klinghardt. They also wish to thank Kindred Hospice staff for their care and guidance, especially Belinda and Blanca.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm with a Vigil/Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast 4631 Hondo Pass. A Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 am Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant. Committal Service will be (Time) Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
