OBITUARY Marian June Peterson June 24, 1919 – July 17, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Marian June (Tuinstra) Challa Peterson of Grand Rapids, age 99, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2018. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered and cherished by her children, Fred (Mary Ann) Challa, Shirley (Jim) Wells, and Dan (Roxanne) Challa, as well as 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Marian is also survived by her brother Roger (Cathy) Tuinstra, sister Donna (Leonard) Erickson, sister-in-law Catherine Tuinstra and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Oscar Tuinstra; husband Fred Challa; husband Ronald Peterson; brother John Tuinstra, brother Bernard Tuinstra and sister in law Joyce Tuinstra, sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Rev. George Bontekoe; and great-grandson Ryan Patrick Wells. Marian was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose sense of humor and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place according to her wishes, and a memorial service will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on July 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. A special thank you to all her devoted family and friends for their devoted, loving care to Marian. Also a special thank you to Kindred Hospice and Vista Springs at Riverside Garden for their kind and compassionate care of Marian these past months.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Mission (225 Commerce Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) in memory of Rev. George and Eleanor Bontekoe.
