Obituary for Marie Besson Laurent Marie Besson Laurent, 88 of Mandeville, La was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was born on April 8, 1930 in New Orleans, La to Edwin J. Besson Jr. and Claudia LeBlanc Besson. Marie is survived by her three daughters Linda (Freeman) Lee, Debra (Eddie) Peterson and Cynthia (Sean Henton) Dupree, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Marie also leaves behind 2 brothers Edwin (Beverly) Besson Jr. and Claude (Coleen) Besson and 2 sisters, Jackie (Nick) Tusa and Martha (Ray) Carriere. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Leo Laurent, 1 sister Olga Lushing, 1 brother Francis Besson and parents. During the early years of life Marie resided in New Orleans, later moving to Chalmette in the 1950’s where she settled and built a beautiful family with husband Leo and her three children Linda, Debbie and Cindy.
Marie was an admirable example of what it was to be a loving and devoted wife and mother always displaying unconditional love and unfailing devotion towards them. Marie had a passion and love for all people and was often called upon to care for others which she did without question. Born with the natural mothering instinct she often assumed the motherly role towards her siblings as well.
Marie not only blessed everyone with the beautiful heart she possessed but also warmed the hearts of others through their bellies achieving this with her pristine cooking abilities. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her cooking talents with everyone and took great pleasure in having family gatherings for the holidays. Spending quality time with friends, family, her children and grandchildren brought her great joy.
Included in the many talents Marie possessed was a beautiful singing voice which she regularly used in singing praises to our Lord. She not only had a love for our Lord and human life but also possessed a great love for animals as well. Some other things that brought her great joy were gardening, traveling and marveling at Gods beautiful creations.
Aside from family life, Marie was also very successful in her career life as well. She was a career banker where her determination and hard worked proved to be impeccable moving her through the ranks from bank teller to loan officer and eventually branch manager until retirement. Marie later moved to Mandeville in 2005 where she lived out the rest of her days here on earth.
Marie will be forever remembered and cherished in our hearts and the hearts of many for the countless amazing qualities she possessed and displayed throughout her life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon with visitation at church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.
