Marie’s Obituary Memorial Services for Marie Carruthers will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, LA. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemtery.

Marie (Ewing) Carruthers was born May 29, 1938 in Broussard, La. the daughter of Wilson Ewing and Amay G. Ewing. She spent her lifelong years in the hospitality field serving others with the gift of humor, loyalty, and love.

She was affectionately known by her grandkids as “Maw-Rie”. Her favorite pastime was decorating, gardening, and cooking for family. Her willingness to give more than receive granted her much respect.

She will always be cherished in our memories. Marie departed her life peacefully at home on April 26, 2019 at 5:27 PM surrounded by love ones. She leaves behind many loved ones to cherish her memory.

Her children Barbara Jean (Bertrand) Hillebrandt, Lucien Bertrand (Cherylan), Robert Bertrand (Melissa), Sheila Marie Bertrand, Bryan Lasseigne (Tiffany), John Jay Thibodeaux, Susan Thibodeaux, Kim Wayne Smith (Monique); godsons Terry Paul Ewing (Felicia) and Larry Hebert. She also leaves a lasting legacy with 21 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Wilson Ewing, her mother Amay G. Ewing, her stepfather John (Pop) Gaspard, her brother Murphy Ewing ; two sisters Virgie E. Hebert (Joseph) and Enez E. Lormand (John); two grandsons Daniel (Jamie) Hillebrandt and Hunter Bertrand.
