Marie E. McSawby, 86, of Charlevoix, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019. She was born May 12, 1932 in Charlevoix, the daughter of William Sands and Anna (Enos) Sands. Marie was a proud member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

She greatly enjoyed the outdoors, including biking and taking in nature, as well as singing. Marie was a lover of children, especially those in her family. For many years Marie worked at United Technologies in Boyne City as an assembler.

Surviving Marie are two nieces, Lori (Antonio) McSawby-Hartle of Charlevoix, and Tina Wiser-McSawby of Charlevoix. Also surviving Marie are numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis McSawby, sister Catherine McSawby, and niece Jennifer McSawby.

Funeral services will take place Friday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m., at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Jonathan Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. The family will receive friends Friday, May 10 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, also at the funeral home.
