Obituary for Marie Williams (Smith) Marie Mae Williams, 58, of Dorchester, wife of Charles Dawson, died Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She was born in Saint Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, on November 16, 1959, daughter of Maurice H. Smith Sr. and Ethel Henry Joseph. One of the things that brought joy to Marie was cooking.

She loved to cook while seeing the joy her cooking brought to others. When Marie made any of her outstanding dishes, it brought her a feeling like making others happy was her spiritual calling, and she was right. Marie also loved to do things such as shop, watch her favorite TV shows, collect paintings and dance.

Dancing was one of those things that she loved to do, not too many people knew about her. She always felt that whenever there was music playing at a party, she would say “What are you guys doing sitting around? Don’t you hear the music?

GET UP AND DANCE! ” Marie came to America in 1981 along with her two younger brothers and within a few years of being in America, she became a certified nursing assistant for over 20 years. She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself and did whatever she could to make sure they were always happy.

The holidays and family gatherings were also something Marie looked forward to because two of the most important things to her would be brought together in one bubble, food and family. The gatherings, like many other things, brought about her vibrant laughter, which made her presence even more fulfilling. Learning new things, the love that she had for all nine of her siblings and most importantly, God.

Marie loved to usher at the church she attended because it made her feel a closer relationship with God. Although we miss her dearly, God felt it was time to call Marie home in the short time she spent on this earth. Marie was here to show everyone the epitome of what a selfless human being we should all learn to be.

Now, she rests in sleeping hands of the father above. We can only look up to her and say thank you for being a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will always love you and feel your presence with us every day.

Marie is survived by her husband and parents, her daughter Wendy Spencer of Randolph, sons Shane Williams and Kevin Williams of Dorchester, grandchildren Kevron Robertson and Ryan Robertson of Randolph, sisters Sharon DeJesus of McKinney, Texas, Vernice Smith-Brown of West Bridgewater, Phyllis Hall, Cassandra Mcintosh, and Doreen Bailey of Saint Ann, Jamaica, her brothers Ferdinand O. Smith of Hyde Park, Maurice H. Smith Jr. of Dorchester, Glenroy Perry of Saint Ann’s Jamaica, Michael Martin of Atlanta, Georgia and many nephews and nieces. A Viewing will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Faith Christian Church 301 Harvard Street, Dorchester, MA 02124.
