Obituary for Marie M. Mocny Marie M. Mocny, age 96, beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2018, at her home of 69 years, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in Cincinnati, OH, grew up in Rochester, NY, and graduated from Mercy High School. She met the love of her life, Al Mocny, when they both performed in a community drama club.

They were married in 1943, in Rochester. They moved to Santa Barbara in 1949, where Al had been stationed in the army, and where they happily raised their six children. Marie worked at Valle Verde Nursing Home for 15 years as a medical secretary.

She was involved in many volunteer activities, including at San Roque and St. Barbara parishes. Marie will be remembered for her deep faith, devotion to family and friends, and her kind, generous spirit. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Al, and her brother and 4 sisters.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, James (Susan), Laurel Ann (Louis), Patrice (Michael), Christopher (Renette), Michael (Monica), and Robert (Jerzy); grandchildren and their spouses, Mari (Ron), Jeffrey (Julianna), Timothy, David, Jeremy (Donna), Rachel, Daniel (Lisa), Kelly (Chris), Joshua, Miriam, Anthony (Nikki) and Peri; and great-grand children Nadia, Celia, Maxwell, Benjamin, Diego, Isabella, Alexandria, Shane, Marie, Owen, and Joseph. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, Assisted Hospice of Santa Barbara, and others for their care and attention to Marie. Viewing will be held at Welch-Ryce-Haider Mortuary on Thursday, December 6, from 2:30-5:00 pm.

Rosary will begin at 4:30. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Barbara Parish on Friday, December 7, at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
