Memorial services for Marie “Punkin” LaCoss, 71, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. David Butters officiating. She was born June 29, 1947, in Woodlake, Texas, the daughter of William M. Paul and Margaret (Mericle) O’Neil, and died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in Lufkin.

Mrs. LaCoss enjoyed reading, camping, and fishing. She loved her cat, Native Americans, and being with her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Mary Scott of Cypress, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Juanita Scott and Robert Turner of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Scott and Larry Middlebrook of Lufkin; son, Shannon Scott of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Jay Johnson of Tomball, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Larry “Bo” and Lucille Paul of Willis, TX; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family members.

Mrs. LaCoss was preceded in death by her father, William M. Paul; mother and step-father, Margaret and George E. O’Neil; husband, William “Bill” LaCoss; grandmothers, Bonnie Paul and Alice Mericle; grandfathers, Bennie Paul, and Appleton Mericle; sister, Alice Newland; brother, Gary Paul; and nephew, Michael Paul. Special memorials may be made to the Scott Family (The Children). Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
