OBITUARY Marie-Therese Menard September 18, 1926 – January 2, 2019 Play Tribute Movie Marie-Thérèse Ménard, née Sylvestre, (“Titie” as referred to by her family and close friends) was born on September 18, 1926 and passed away suddenly on January 2, 2019 at the age of 92. She was preceded by her husband (Max Ménard) in 1979. During the past seven years she resided in Bellerose, NY.

Titie was born to the late Elie Sylvestre and his wife, Thérèse Carré, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was the second of five children; four by her mother, Madgela S. Thomas, Fritz Sylvestre, Carmelle S. Liautaud, and one by her father’s second marriage, Gladstone Sylvestre. She married the late Max Ménard in 1946; the union produced four children.

Titie is survived by: her sister Carmelle S. Liautaud, son Serge M. Ménard and his wife Geralda François Ménard, daughter Brigitte M. Bonny and her husband Gardy Bonny, son E. Max Ménard, son Jean-Pierre Ménard and his wife Martine Manus Ménard. Her cousins: Bernadette Carré Crosley, Myrtha Charlot, Charles and Solange Charlot. Her sisters in-law: Ghislaine Ménard Tremblay and Josette “Zette” Adrien.

Maman Titie was a devoted grandmother to Aïsha Gordon and her husband Loy Gordon, Karim A. Ménard, Alain R. Bonny, Jean-Paul S. Bonny, Jonathan L. Ménard, and Nathalie E. Ménard. She was also the great-grandmother of Evan Gordon. She had a special connection with each one of them: Aïsha was her brow bar bestie and her Creole conversionist, Karim who, as a young boy, faked being sick at school so his grandma would pick him up and spend time with her, Alain with never-fail Sunday calls and French conversations, Jean-Paul the jokester and bear-hugger, Nathalie the little pepper that kept Titie on her toes with hip conversations and inquiries, Jonathan her reflective and attentive one.

Tante Titie was a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews who often visited or called, which made her days: Marie Denise Liautaud, Robert Liautaud and wife Gina, their daughters Yandie, Tania and Leila, Bianca Labossière, Roger Lefort, Mireille and Richard D’Meza, Natacha Thomas, Viviane Gousse, Françoise.
