Marilyn J. Dorer, age 84, of Montague and formerly of Shelby, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018. She was born May 15, 1934 in Benona Township to Theodore and Martha (Steen) Wentzloff. She married John “Jack” Dorer who preceded her in death on July 16, 2000.

Mrs. Dorer was a teacher at Thomas Read Elementary School in Shelby before her retirement. She was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church in Montague. She is survived by her children, Peggy Kushuba, John Dorer and Kurt (Kim) Dorer; her grandchildren, Kellie (John) Weaver, Kristin (Chris) Phillips, Jack Dorer and Cade Dorer; her great-grandchildren Tyler Kushuba, Aleyah Weaver, Amariah Weaver, Alivia Phillips and Aislyn Phillips; her sister, Mary Ann (Mike deceased) McPheron; nephew, Michael (Shannon) McPheron and niece, Michelle (Drew) Kresmery.

She was also preceded in death by her parents. Visitation is Wednesday, Novmeber 7th, 1 pm until the memorial service at 2 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Rev. John Brooks officiating.

A luncheon will follow the service. Please consider Shelby Area District Library, 189 Maple Street, Shelby, MI 49455 as a memorial.
