Age 89 of Oxford, died at Woodland County Manor, Sunday, June 10, 2018. She was born on September 10, 1928, in Middletown, the fourth child of Arthur and Mary (Brelsfoard) Jacoby. Before graduating from Middletown High School in 1946, she was editor of the school yearbook and violinist in the Middletown Civic Orchestra.

After graduating from Miami University, she married Wallace I. Edwards in 1950. She worked at the University of Wisconsin until moving to Oxford where her full-time job was her family. She was a Camp Fire Girl leader and supporter of her husband’s and children’s many activities.

She sewed beautifully, making everything from doll clothes to draperies and baked thousands of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Once her children were grown, she worked at Kramer Elementary School Media Center and at Smith Library of Regional History. After retiring, she sought training in book repair and mended books for local schools and area libraries.

She was frequently called on by local organizations to proofread publications (and she would no doubt have made corrections to this text). In later years, her interest in genealogy and history led her to research and write a substantial book called Seven Mile, Ohio: the Early Years, published in 2004. Seven Mile honored her by declaring “Marilyn Jacoby Edwards Day” in the village.

She was also a longtime member of Hopedale Unitarian Universalist Community. She is survived by her four children, Valerie (and Joseph) Elliott of Oxford, Steven Edwards (and partner Corrine Yeager) of Lebanon, Sharon Edwards of Oxford, and Haylie (and Mark) Hewitt of Goodyear, AZ. She also leaves two grandchildren, Joseph Elliott of Shoreline, WA and James Elliott of Kamisu, Japan, one sister, Marjory Leflar, of Dexter, MI, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years and a brother and sister. No services are planned, but memorial donations may be made to Three Valley Conservation Trust or EMU (Environmental Mobile Unit). Interment will be in Middletown’s Woodside Cemetery.
