Obituary for Marilyn Joan Bonfert Marilyn Joan Bonfert, 86, of Sebring, died on May 5, 2016 at 1:23 a.m. at Akron General Medical Center. She was born on November 10, 1929 in Alliance, to Lester and Lena (Schweikart) Trautwein and lived in Alliance all of her life. She was a 1947 January Class graduate of Alliance High School, a 1951 graduate of Mount Union College and had taught at South Liberty School.

Marilyn was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and its Rebekah Circle. Mrs. Bonfert was also a member of the Alliance Alumnae of Alpha Xi Delta, the Alliance Woman’s Club, Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary and the YWCA. She is survived by her son, Verner Robert (Michele) Bonfert of Alliance; two daughters, Katherine Eakin of Alliance and Gretchen Bonfert of New Orleans, LA; five grandchildren, Katie (Jeremy) Phillips, Jeremiah Eakin, Ruth (Brian) Mitchell, Rachel Eakin and Brandi Bonfert; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Phillips, Ava Mitchell and Ellie Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Verner Victor Bonfert on January 20, 2003, whom she married on June 28, 1952; her parents; and two sisters, Elizabeth Cook and Jean Dearth. The family will receive friends at the Bennett Chapel at Copeland Oaks on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Her Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dean Lewis officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date in Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Copeland Oaks Life Fund, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring, OH 44672. Arrangements are by the Walton-Schrader Funeral Home, 1131 West State Street, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
