Marilyn Petersen Thompson , December 21, 1946 — December 18, 2018

Marilyn Petersen Thompson started her journey back home for Christmas on December 18, 2018, at her home in North Logan, Utah. She was born to Alton and Irene Archibald Petersen on December 21, 1946 in Logan Utah. She was three days from her 72nd birthday.

Marilyn grew up in Wellsville, Utah and attended elementary and jr. high school there. She graduated in 1965 in the first graduating class of Sky View High School.

She received the Sterling Silver Award in business while there. … Read More » She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After high school, Marilyn worked in Logan, Utah for Olson and Hoggan and First Security Bank.

Later, she transferred to Salt Lake City Utah with First Security Bank. Throughout her career, she also worked for American Saving, IDS, Zions Bank, Servpro and had her own tax accounting business. Marilyn married Darwin Hill on July 15, 1966 and they had two sons, Shawn and JayDee.

She later married Perry Thompson on September 5, 1987 and added two stepchildren, Shean and Stacey. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She would do anything possible to make their holidays the best and to create fun activities and awesome trips for them.

She loved music. She played the piano and loved to go to concerts. Marilyn also liked to work in her yard and in her flower beds.

A trait she got from her mom and older sister. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, mother in-law, and brother in-law. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Perry; two sons, Shawn Hill, Logan, Utah; JayDee (Carrie) Hill, Wellsville, Utah; Stepson, Shean (Sara) Thompson, Clinton, Utah; Stepdaughter, Stacey (Daniel) Fraga, North Salt Lake, Utah; Sisters, Shirlene Maughan, Centerville, Utah; Joyce A. Robinette, Layton, Utah; Brother Gary (Anne) Petersen, Layton, Utah; Grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Hill, Colton Jay Hill, Ashlie Loghry, Saydee Reynolds, Jackson Dee Hill and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marilyn, your work here is done, rest in peace. You will be greatly missed. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at the Nyman Funeral Home at 753 South 100 East, Logan, Utah at 1:00 pm on December 26, 2018. There will be a viewing prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:45 at the Nyman Funeral Home. Condolences and memories can be shared online at www.
