Marion “Greta” Passetti, age 86, passed away in Portland, Oregon, December 11, 2018. She was born October 17, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to George and Helmi Wilson. Greta was one of four daughters, and was raised on a small farm outside of Astoria, Oregon.

She married Peter Passetti, and together they had two sons and one daughter. Together they lived in San Francisco, CA, Guam (during his Naval service) and the majority of their years in Sonoma, CA. They enjoyed camping/RV, hosting friends and family, traveling and dancing.

In her working years Greta was a school secretary, a family business CEO (Passetti Trucking), a family jewelry store clerk and a winery executive assistant – there was a short modeling gig in there too. As a widow, Greta moved to Seaside, Oregon. She had a strong passion for the organizations that served veterans and their families, as well as seniors and children; volunteering thousands of hours with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion (and auxiliary), the Lions Club, retirement communities, schools and hospitals.

She taught through example ‘Sisu’ and pride in her Finnish heritage, serving in the Finnish Brotherhood for many years. Throughout her life she loved to share her voice; singing in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. She found fulfillment in life’s simple blessings; lunch with good company, a beautiful pair of shoes, a refreshing walk on the beach, a good book, a dog chasing a ball, relaxing with public radio and of course her famous home cooking.

Her love of life and all its joys were evident as she lit up a room almost floating from one person to another. May she continue to float into God’s embrace as she leaves this life. She is survived by her sister’s Evelyn Helmhout, age 90 of Memphis, TN and Louise Suvan, age 88 of Washington, her children Vince Passetti, Tony Passetti both of Sonoma, CA, daughter Teresa Fonseca of Cotati, CA, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Seaside, Or. On December 21, 2018 at 11 AM.
