Marjorie Irene Hill October 24, 1927 – December 31, 2018 Marjorie Irene Hill, 91, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Garden City, ID, passed away December 31, 2018, at MorningStar Senior Living Center in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice. Marjorie was born October 24, 1927, in Idaho Falls, ID, to William Richard Sargent and Emily Alice Casper Sargent.

She grew up in Coltman, ID, and attended Coltman Elementary and Ucon High School where she was a cheerleader. She met Alden Hill in high school, who as a high school senior, drove her school bus. On May 29, 1947, she married Alden Eugene Hill in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She attended college classes and worked as a phone operator for AT&T, while her husband was attending Utah State in Logan, Utah, and worked for many years after moving back to Idaho Falls for AT&T. To this union were born three children, Gary, Debra and Sharlene. Marjorie and Alden made their home in Ammon and on two farms on Hitt Road; later moved to Boise, Idaho.

Alden and Marjorie were married for 71 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed growing up in Coltman, Idaho.

She was an immaculate homemaker and a great cook. She loved horses and had several horses at their home in Ammon, Idaho, and also at their farms. She was an outgoing and adventurous horse woman as well as an avid gardner.

She loved animals and farming as she was a farmers daughter and never out grew it. Marjorie is survived by her loving husband, Alden Eugene Hill of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gary Eugene (Yaying Xu) Hill of Idaho Falls, ID; sister-in-law, Colleen Hill (Kenneth) McGary of Ucon, ID; nephew, Roger “Pete” Sargent of Coltman, ID; and 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emily Sargent; daughters, Sharlene Marie Hill Durtschi and Debra (Debbie) Irene Hill Sheen; brothers, Darrel William Sargent and Gene Casper Sargent.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Kevin Bodily, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery.
