Marjorie’s Obituary Marjorie Frances O’Connor, 96, passed away on January 20, 2019 at the Genesis Rehabilitation Center in Gambrills, Maryland, after being hospitalized for a small stroke, Born Marjorie Frances Platt in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, April 19, 1922, she was the third daughter of Charles and Frances Sanker Platt. Her sisters Bernice Platt Burns, and Ruth Platt Buck proceeded her in death in 1968 and 2006. After graduation from Altoona Catholic High School, in 1940, Margie’s family moved to Washington, D.C. and later to Mt.

Rainer, Maryland. Margie worked as a switchboard operator in Altoona and again at the CIO in Washington, D.C., and as a secretary at the AFL-CIO upon the company’s merger. She worked there until her retirement after over 30 years, in 1983.

Marjorie married Joseph O’Conner in 1980, and they moved to Crofton, Maryland that year. Her husband Joe proceeded her in death on April 21, 2010. She resided in their Crofton home until her short stay at Genesis Rehab, upon her death.

She was the last living survivor of her generation from our large family. Marjorie has been an active member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, in Millersville, Maryland, for over 35 years, and has made many wonderful friends. She has participated in various clubs and charities at the church.

Margie had many hobbies, including collecting dolls, painting, crocheting, and keeping in touch with her family members and friends. Marjorie is survived by her nephew Timothy Burns, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and two nieces, Barbara Wetzel, from, Hatfield, Pennsylvania, and Deborah Reinecke, from Bridgeville, Delaware, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl Memphis TN 38105.

Family will receive friends on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3. South), Bowie, MD. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave.

, Millersville, MD on January 29, 2019 at 10am. Interment immediately after the Mass, at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church Cemetery, Millersville, Maryland.
