Mark Harvey McKee, age 88, completed his earthly journey on March 5, 2019 in Heber City. After a long and courageous fight, he has at last returned home to his Father in Heaven. Mark was born to William Harvey and Reva Hunting McKee on January 15, 1931 in Vernal, Utah.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Jewell Perry, on October 22, 1947. They are the parents of three sons, Mac, Mike and Mitch McKee. Mark and Jewell lived in San Diego, California, Vernal, Utah, and Heber City, Utah.
He supported his family while working in the oilfield in the Uintah Basin, owning part of A1 Tank and managing Dalbo. He also found time to run the family farm in Maeser where he cultivated hay and grain, grew the best corn in the valley, herded cattle, raised his three boys and later taught his grandchildren to drive. Mark liked to go hunting, but he loved to go fishing.
He was an avid fisherman, some may even say he was addicted. He enjoyed taking his sons and later his grandchildren out on the lake. He spent many days trolling for lake trout on Flaming Gorge and was happy to tell anyone who would listen about his fish stories.
The grandkids will mostly remember Grandpa McKee for his fish stories and for his love of anything chocolate. Mark was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was pleased to be able to be sealed to his lifelong sweetheart in the Mt. Timpanogos temple on July 3, 2014.
At the time of his passing, Mark and Jewell had been married for 71 years. They married young and then spent a lifetime taking care of each other. Their love story is truly remarkable, and they continue to be a great example of love, loyalty and perseverance to all who knew them.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Rex Pitt and Everett Pitt. He is survived by one sister, Rayma (Dan) Slaugh of Vernal, Utah; his wife, Jewell Perry and their three sons; Mac (Ginny) McKee of Logan, Mike (Annette) McKee of Salt Lake City, and Mitch (Cindy) McKee of Heber City. He leaves ten grandchildren: Mark, Adrienne, Jessica, Dayna, Mike E, Keri, Kelsey, Tyler, Brinley and Lacey McKee and two great-grandchildren: Mia Lynne Palma and Sawyer Mark McKee.
His grandchildren and especially the great-grandchildren were his pride and joy in his later years and could always make him smile. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 9th at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Park chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 2285 South Daniels Road in Heber City, Utah. Viewing will be held that morning at the same location between 11:00 and 12:30.
