Clara Marlene Brown Sorensen, age 82, of Talmage, returned to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family May 7, 2019. Marlene was born July 12, 1936 in Utahn to Leonard Ethan and Clara Ingri Snow Brown. She was sealed to Marvin Ray Sorensen in the Salt Lake Temple on February 13, 1958.

They bought a farm in Talmage where they worked countless hours to raise their four children. She loved being a mother and cherished every moment with them. After twenty loving years her sweetheart passed away too soon on May 26, 1978.

She went to work for Duchesne County School District that fall to be able to finish raising her family. She retired after 20 years of service. Mom was very talented, she crocheted beautiful blessing dresses, afghans, and baby blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She looked forward to our yearly family camp outs every summer where we have countless memories of card games, laughs, playing at the lake and late night camp fire talks. She was an excellent cook, always trying new recipes. Everyone loved her rolls, cookies, pies and everything she made.

She always raised a beautiful garden and lots of flowers every year, and she was preparing to start planting soon. She had a great love for reading. In her younger years she was a part of the Altamont Saddlettes Riding Club and traveled to many places performing.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings through the years. She enjoyed doing genealogy and was a temple worker for many years in the Vernal Temple. Everyone looked to her as an example of resiliency, courage, diligence and righteousness.

Grandma loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren so much. She made a huge impact on her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Greg (Cris) Sorensen, Darryl (Ellen) Sorensen, all of Talmage; Michael (Janice) Sorensen, Santaquin; Marsha (Bryan) Broadhead, Ioka; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; her siblings, Della Allred, British Columbia, Canada; Marilyn (Blaine) Beckstrand, Vancouver, WA; and Lynette (Rex) Hallam, Francis, UT.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Ray, parents Leonard and Clara Brown, brother Weldon Brown, and infant siblings, LeRoy and Jeanette Brown. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Moon Lake Chapel. Viewings will be held on Friday evening at the church from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
