Marlene O. Trentham, born March 9, 1947 (age 71), went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 13, 2018. She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville and was a resident of Gatlinburg, TN. She had been a devoted member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church since 1967, where she was saved at the age of 9 during Bible School.

At the age of 12, her mother was transferred to Knoxville and Marlene moved in with Bill, Barbara and Lisa McGill. (Marlene and Lisa are sisters at heart) She… Read More » lived with them until age 19 when she married Tom Trentham. They were married for 52 years.

Together, Tom and Marlene owned and operated East Side Motel for 44 years where they made many lifelong friends. East Side was the place to hang out for her kids’ friends and to eat Tom Burgers. The biggest impact on Marlene’s life was being a member of Roaring Fork Baptist Church where she made many friends that were like family.

She participated in all activities at the church until her health prevented her. Marlene never met a stranger and always tried to help whoever she could. Marlene loved and adored her three children.

They were her whole life. She was always supportive, always encouraging and cheering them on. She was a devoted Wife, Mom and Granny.

She loved and was so very proud of her five grandchildren and enjoyed watching them in all of their activities. Marlene gave all she had for her family, church, and beloved friends. Marlene was a strong Christian with unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father.

She wants her children and grandchildren to stay in church. It means the world to her. Marlene is preceded in death by her mother Delle Oliver; mother-in-law and father-in-law Virgil and Mattie Trentham; special granddaddy Charles C. Clabo and grandmother Bertha Clabo; step-grandmother Grace Smelcer Clabo; great-grandparents Sherman and Beda Clabo, Ashley and Nancy Ann Ogle; aunt Louise Householder Clabo (her best friend) and brother-in-law Eddie Trentham, whom she dearly loved.

She is survived by her husband Tom L. Trentham; children Nancy (Eric) Bohanan, Lisa Trentham, Tommy Joe (Nessa) Trentham; grandchildren Dalton, Avery and Eli Bohanan, Taylan and Tinslee Trentham; uncle Hugh Clabo; sisters-in-law Joan (John) Garland, Claudette (Bob) Kendig; cousins Chuck Clabo, Andy and Gina Clabo, Carrie Clabo; extended family Barbara McGill and Lisa Reagan and family; many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Thank you Daddy for taking such good care of Momma.
