Marlene Rose Kaeferle (nee Weber), 85, of Woodbury Heights, passed away May 6th, 2019. She was the youngest of the ten Weber children born and raised in Woodbury, NJ. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Philipp E. Kaeferle Sr. (1981) and her son David Scott Kaeferle (1992).

She is survived by her son Philipp E. Kaeferle, Jr. (Denise) of Wenonah; grandchildren Madison & Pierce; sister Helen Toth of Woodbury and numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1952, where she excelled academically and lettered in field hockey, basketball, and tennis. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Rutgers University (1956) and her master’s degree in Romance Languages and Literatures from Penn State University (1958).

In her professional life, Marlene was an educator. She taught for Penn State University, the University of Pennsylvania, Middlebury College, West Deptford School District and Aura Elementary School in Elk Township. She is a lifetime member of the NJEA and retired from teaching in 1998.

Marlene went by many names, including Mom, Mom-Mom, Bootsie and Aunt Booie. She enjoyed her pets, card games with her brothers and sisters and was an avid reader. She loved cooking and hosting significant family events at her home where everyone was welcome.

In her younger days, Marlene enjoyed spending summers in Atlantic City with her family. She liked to go to the casinos with her sisters and had a very competitive spirit when it came to playing cards, bean bag, and dice. One of her most redeeming qualities was her distinctive and infectious laugh which her loved ones often heard.

Marlene’s children, grandchildren, and extended family were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her kind spirit, passion for sports and games, love of reading, and zest for life will live on through them. Visitation Saturday, June 1st 10 am until the memorial service at 11 am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME, 171 Delaware Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
