Ms. Marlene M. Thrift, age 65 of Glen St. Mary, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ocilla, Georgia on September 14, 1953 to the late Mr. William E. Beverly and Mrs. Maude (Hutchison) Beverly. Ms. Marlene spent her early years in Jacksonville and worked most of her life managing restaurants.

She loved traveling, especially to the mountains. Her family was her life, but her dear mother, Ms. Maude Beverly, was her best friend. Ms. Thrift was a member of the Mt.

Zion New Congregational Methodist Church for the last 4 years. Marlene most notably was the manager at Burger King and Sam’s Café (Walmart DC) in Macclenny. She is preceded in death by her father and her husband, Mr. Curtis Thrift.

She leaves behind her daughters: Christina (Albert) Crews of Glen St. Mary, Cheryle (Jeff) Westberry of Screven, Georgia, Trish (Billy) Bailey of St. George, Georgia, and Cathy (Ronnie) Joyner of Waycross, Georgia; her mother: Maude Beverly of Glen St. Mary; brother: Glenn (Shirley) Beverly of Macclenny; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces: Erin (Gary) Reneau of Glen St. Mary and Carrie (Dwayne) Swain of Macclenny; nephews: Glenn (Jennifer) Beverly Jr. of Macclenny and Robby Beverly; 5 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. Pallbearers will be Seth Thompson, Gary Reneau, Don Cox Jr., Josh Green, Jimmy Woodward, and Glenn Beverly Jr. The family will be receiving friends at Road to Calvary Church, Glen St. Mary on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service to honor Ms. Marlene’s life will begin at 1:00 PM at the church.

She will be laid to rest immediately following the services at Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny. 904-259-4600.
