MARTHA INDIA BOWES POWELL age 79, of 150 Wade-Powell Road, Roxboro, NC died Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018 at Person Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Powell was born July 15, 1939 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Reuben Walter & Cornelius Adline Davis Bowes and was wife of 50 years to the late Roy Rogers Powell. She was retired from Collins and Aikman after 36 years of service and was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Hicks & husband, Ronny, Susan P. Henderson, and Julie Powell all of Roxboro, NC, six grandchildren, Dempsey C. Dunn & wife, Tonya, Samantha Pickett & husband, Jon, Summer D. Henderson, Sabrina K. Henderson, Alicia I. Powell, and Gerianne Shotwell, ten great grandchildren, Ethan Dunn, Nathan Dunn, Lucas Dunn, Pa’ton Whitt, Aaliyah Whitt, A’dan S. Crawley, Alexia Dotson, Malaki Henderson, Joel Pickett, and Brenton Burton. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Powell is preceded in death by five brothers, Simon Bowes, Robert Bowes, Early Bowes, Ira Bowers and Walter Bowes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev.

Robbie Dunn the Rev. Jason Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services and other times at the home of her daughter. Margaret Hicks, 120 Sandtrap Lane, Roxboro, NC 27574. Pallbearers will be Lynn Brandon, Tony Dawkins, Jason Hatley, Chris Jacobs, George Woody, and Jackson Woody.
