Martin E. “Mert” Schmauder, 82, of Quakertown formerly of Pen Argyl died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in his home. He was the loving and dedicated husband of Jeanette (Guerro) Schmauder. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 12, 2018.

Born in Allentown, PA he was the son of the late Kathryn Anna (Gross) Schmauder and the grandson of the late Edward R. & Emma M. (Jennings) Anthony. At a young age after the death of his mother and grandfather he was taken in and raised by the loving family of the late Elwood F. Stocker, Sr. & Cynthia L. (Biller) Stocker Baker. He was a spreader and cutter for various blouse mills in the Lehigh Valley and Slate Belt areas, retiring in 1997 from the former Fashions by Danielle in Pen Argyl.

After his retirement he was a funeral attendant for his son’s business C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. in Quakertown and Ruggiero Funeral Home, Inc. in Pen Argyl. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Wind Gap, Pa. In addition to his stubbornness he loved to b!

+*h and complain but always with a smile on his face and a warm heart. Other than enjoying a “cold one” once in a while his most enjoyment in life was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up. From helping raise his oldest, following kart racing and the talented welding career of his next oldest, field hockey, academic excellence and marriage of his only granddaughter, and sports, academic achievements, and military future of his twin grandsons.

His enjoyment and love was renewed by his two great granddaughters. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Lynne M. Schmauder, and a son Michael B. Schmauder and his wife Judy. Grandchildren Ryan J. Schmauder, Anthony D. Sabia, Kristen L. McGaughran and her husband James, Mason S. Schmauder, and Shane M. Schmauder.

Great grandchildren Sophia Lynn, Ava Grace, Xavier, Emma, Sera. Foster brother Charles Stocker and a foster sister Shirley Snoddy. He was predeceased by two foster brothers Theodore Stocker and Elwood Stocker, Jr

He will also be missed by extended family and friends. A prayer service will be held on Sunday evening, October 21, 2018 at 7:30 P.M. in the C. R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. (www. crstrunk.com) 821 W. Broad St. Quakertown, PA 18951.
