Martin John Rohwedder, 59, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, in his home on February 5, 2019. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday February 15th at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City, North Dakota. Interment will be in the spring at Faith Cemetery in Valley City, North Dakota.

Martin John Rohwedder was born May 2, 1959 in Waverly Iowa to Winton and Lila (Krebs) Rohwedder. He attended California schools through the 6th grade, prior to his family moving to Valley City. Martin was a 1977 graduate of Valley City High School.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, following his honorable discharge he moved to Minneapolis. In Minneapolis he worked for Northern Ordinance Division FMC for 10 years, then the Minneapolis Star Tribune for 17 years. After moving to Valley City, he worked for the Minnesota General Labor Union, spending the majority of his time in the power plants and pipelines of western North Dakota.

Martin especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid collector and lover of music in all forms, including the writing of his own lyrics. Martin was always entertained by watching movies both vintage and modern.

He was a lover of animals in all sizes. Martin was an individual who listened to and marched to his own drummer. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

Survivors include his parents Winton and Lila, brothers Michael (CeCe), Andrew (Janet), and Cedric; nephew Michael Jr. (Farryn), nieces; Teresa (Rod) Rohwedder, Kristal (Shane) Amundson, Candace (Joel) Granberg; great grand nephews and nieces Andrew Rohwedder, Gabrielle and Gibson Granberg, and Asher Amundson. He was preceded in death by his sister in law Kathy Rohwedder and nephew Nicholas Rohwedder. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Foundation of Valley City, ND.
