Marvin “Sambo” Earl Black May 10, 1952 – May 05, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Marvin Earl “Sambo” Black, Jr. passed away on May 5, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 66. He was born May 10, 1952 in Clinton, OK to Marvin and June (Warden) Black. He grew up in the Seiling area, graduating from Seiling High School.

He was a member of the Elk Clan. He worked operating heavy equipment. In his spare time he really enjoyed drawing and painting, hunting, and fishing.

Sambo enjoyed traveling to the Cheyenne/Arapaho ceremonies and was well known for being able to start a conversation with anybody. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and June Black, infant son Marvin E. Black, III, a grandchild, and a brother Michael Lawrence Black. Left to carry his legacy are his children Kahlea Black of Okmulgee, OK, Keely Black of Okmulgee, James Warden of Oklahoma City, and Earl Plumley of El Reno, OK; brothers and sisters Marshall Keith Black of El Reno, Brenda Sue Black of Oklahoma City, Myrna Ruth Black of El Reno, Byron Scott Black of El Reno, Marvina Rose Black of Oklahoma City, James Warden of Oklahoma City, and Janice Warden of Tahlequah, OK; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Concho Community Center. A traditional all night wake will be held on Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will follow the services at Concho Cemetery.
