Mumford, age 89, of Selbyville died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at home. She was born in Phoenixville, PA and was the daughter of the late Jano and Azniv (Manoogian) Hasheian. Mary was a member of the AARP Chorus, The Degree of Pocohantas in Selbyville and a member of Salem United Methodist Church and sang in Salem Choir for 67 years.

Mary was a classical trained soprano. She had the honor of singing at Delaware Day at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York City. She also sang for then Vice President Richard Nixon in Selbyville for a celebration of Delaware Senator Townsend.

She also was the senior soloist for the First Church of Christ Scientist in Rehoboth Beach for 50 years. She is survived by her children, Deborah M. Luber and husband Edward of Rockville, MD, John Frank Mumford of Frankford and Marianna M. O’Neal and husband Craig of Selbyville; five grandchildren, Marianna, Matthew (Samantha), Eli, Hannah and Grace and one great-grandchild, Ella. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Mumford in 2004.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Sissy, Debbie, Dani and Tanny. A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, March 12 at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville with Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating.

Friends may call an hour before the service. Burial will be in Redmen’s Cemetery in Selbyville. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Selbyville Public Library, P.O. Box 739, Selbyville, DE 19975, Redmen’s Cemetery, 69 Cemetery Road, Selbyville, DE 19975 or Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Newark, DE 19713.
