Mary Ann Short, 88, of Unity Township, died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Hempfield Manor Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. She was born August 2, 1930 in Boswell, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Flora (Mack) Ayers. Prior to retirement she worked in the bakery at Davis Supermarket, Greensburg.

She had been a member of the former Fairmount Church near Stahlstown. Mary Ann was the best mother and a good friend to many. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Wade Short, a brother and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Short, a son, Thomas L. Short and wife Connie of Unity Township, 2 daughters, Cyndia L. Goughenour and husband John of Greensburg and Joanne Perry and husband Chuck of Greensburg, 6 grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Walters and Rodney of Penn Township, Britt Anne Lynn and husband Greg of Derry, Kelly Anne Short of Ohio, Amber Newcaster and husband Nick of Georgia, Matt Perry and wife Sara of New York and Mindy Perry of Greensburg, 6 great grandchildren, Piper Perry, Kodie and Trenton Walters, Kaysea Hart and Jill and Maren Newcaster. Honoring Mary Ann’s request all services are private. Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasant Unity, in charge of arrangements.
