Obituary for Mrs. Mary “Ann” Flanagan Smith Mary “Ann” Flanagan Smith, 81, went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 2, 2018. Ann was born on May 26, 1937 to Lillie Mae Phelps Flanagan and Henry Mae Flanagan in Corinth, Mississippi. She attended school in Corinth where she played high school basketball.
In 1952 Ann married the love of her life, Vester R. Smith. The couple moved to Houston, Texas and began their 66-year journey together. Ann is preceded in death by her mother Lillie Mae Phelps Flanagan, father Henry Mae Flanagan, brothers Billy Joe and George Franklin, sister Ruthie, son-in-law Thomas Eugene Porche and daughter Regina Mae Smith Porche.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vester R. Smith; son Ricky Smith; sister Brenda Clark and husband Gary Clark; grandchildren Kara Smith, Eric Smith and Amanda Johnson, Tiffany Porche and Lacy Clemmons, and Timothy Porche; 8 great-grandchildren, Christian, Kaitlin, Colin, Kacee, Mason, Riley, Hagan and Ella, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family, treasured friends, her beloved cat Punkin, and her grand-dog Tito. Services will be held at San Jacinto Funeral Home at 14659 East Freeway, Houston, Texas 77015. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6-8 PM.
