She was born on April 29, 1937, daughter of the late Worth McFarland and Ethel McNeill McFarland. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Oscar McFarland and her husband Curtis Gilbert Buchanan.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Benhaven High School, was retired from Coty, and was a member of the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were her greatest joy. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Thursday at the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev.

Doug Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Surviving is her daughter Ethel Mae Zabel and husband Fred of Broadway.

Sister Nell Fields and husband Eddie of Laurinburg, NC and Brother Tim McFarland and wife Lynn of Sanford, NC. Grandchildren William Curtis Zabel Sr. and wife Tiffany and Kenneth Andrew Zabel all of Broadway; and Great grandchildren, William Curtis Zabel Jr. and Dalanie Lynn Zabel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.
