Mary Anna Stewart, 85, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on September 19, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born in Akron on February 6, 1933 to her loving parents, Anna and Herbert H. Blackerby. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Stewart, Jr. of 57 years; infant daughter, Tina Marie; brother, Herbert J. Blackerby; and sister, Evelyn Ortscheid.

She was a graduate from Green High School and played the trumpet in the band. “Miss Mary” worked at McDonald’s for 34 years, up until her recent illness. She was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Assembly Church.

She had a talent with crafts and making flowers, bridal bouquets for weddings. A stay at home Mom, she raised four daughters in a Christian home and was very involved with their activities. Mary loved spending time with family and being with her grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling, with a recent trip to Hawaii, loved Cleveland sports and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She is survived by her loving daughters, Teresa (Bob) Brosey, Denise Melodie (Eric) Gable, Tanya (Brett) Lamb, Tamara Stewart and son-in-law, Rod Bond; grandchildren, Chelsey, Torie, Drake, Rodney, Paige, Stewart, Payton; numerous family members, friends and especially her family at McDonald’s on Waterloo Rd. Our family is immensely grateful for the support and kindness of all her caregivers, Dr. Jon Tosino, and the staff at Akron General.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. , Akron, on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cornerstone Christian Assembly Church, 1531 Ettle Dr., Barberton, Ohio 44203 on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Pastor Paul Beitel officiating.
