Mary Becker Gordon December 21, 1921 – November 21, 2018 Mary Becker Gordon (nee Townsend) died on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the age of 96. She was born on December 21, 1921 in Chestertown, on Maryland’s eastern shore, to Janie and Jennings Townsend, and grew up nearby on the family farm in Tolchester, Maryland. She eventually moved to the Baltimore area, where she lived most of her adult life, and worked as an insurance company underwriter.

During WWII she married Andrew Becker, who died in 1970. She married James Gordon in 1972, and they enjoyed many happy years of boating, dancing, and family outings until his death in 2000. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Christman (David) and Mary Lou Frazier (Dennis); and one son, James Becker (Peggy), as well as five grandchildren – Nanette O’Hanley, Richard Williams Jr. (Beth), Michelle Suciu (Daniel), Christopher Becker, and Melanie Becker.

She was blessed with six great-grandchildren – Robert Holland, George Holland, Zachary Johnson, Richard Williams (Richie), Gabriel Suciu, and Isabella (Bella) Suciu. Mary was predeceased by her stepson, Ronald Gordon. Mary lived a long, productive and happy life.

She transcended life’s difficulties and maintained a joyous and buoyant demeanor. She was resilient, gregarious, and always spoke her mind. For most of her life, she was very active, enjoying gardening, exercising, walking, and the company of her family.

Her positive attitude and her laugh were contagious and she was always the “life of the party”. For the last two and a half years, Mary lived at Regency Park Assisted Living in Severn, where she made many friends, and was known for her competitive card games! Her family is very grateful to the staff for their loving care, as well as to Hospice of the Chesapeake for providing special care during the last few months.

Mary/Mother/Grandmother loved deeply, and was deeply loved. She will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road PASADENA on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at which time funeral services will be held.
