OBITUARY Mary Cannon Hamberlin Our beautiful mother Mary passed away suddenly Friday morning, December 21, 2018, in Salt Lake City at the age of 86. Mary was born in Salt Lake City on September 2, 1932, to Nellie Lillian Waterfield and David Woodward Cannon. Mary graduated from East High School in 1949 and received her B.S. in Education from the University of Utah in June of 1953.

She met the love of her life, Glen Hamberlin, at a Lambda Delta Signa function in 1951. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in June of 1953 and were blessed with three children: Deborah Lee, Mary Elizabeth and David Glen. Mary and Glen were married 49 years before he passed away in 2001.

Mary dedicated herself to her family and various church positions in the Bonneville and Winder Stakes. She also worked for three physicians (J. Leroy Kimball, John H. Cook and King S. Udall).

Mary and Glen loved trips abroad, the most memorable of which was to South Africa where Glen served his mission. She also loved Jerusalem, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, England, Germany and a cruise through the Panama Canal. Their last trip together was Maui, Hawaii, where her great-grandfather, George Q. Cannon, translated the Book of Mormon into the Hawaiian language.

Mary loved movies, Jeopardy, horse racing, dogs, Utah football and her lifelong friends. The center of Mary’s life was her husband Glen, her children, grandchildren and early LDS Church history. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Mary is survived by her children: Deborah Lee (Jeff Anderson), Mary Elizabeth (Ed Davis II) and David Glen; her grandchildren Roshelle Harmer (Chris), Victor Davis III (Catherine), Cheyenne Smolka (Tim), Harmony Whitesides (Joshua) and Bryson Davis; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, mother and husband Glen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Yalecrest 2nd Ward, 1035 S. 1800 E., Salt Lake City, UT.
