Hooper, 71, of 35 South Walnut Street, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community surrounded by her family. Mary was born on March 3, 1948 in Mount Carmel and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Valerie Mae (Schlagle) Hooper. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Selinsgrove Center.

Mary was a member of the Mount Carmel Legion, Mount Carmel Eagles and the Mount Carmel Clovers. Mary was a very loving and caring person. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Her pleasures included reading, playing cards and visiting her family cabin in the mountains of Sullivan County. Mary was survived by her son, Daniel Hooper and his wife Judith, Mount Carmel; two granddaughters, Nicole and Danielle Hooper; two sisters-in-law, Diane Hooper, MD and Mary Ann Hooper, Kulpmont; a niece, Michaline Picklo, Mount Carmel; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Benjamin, Charles and Donald Hooper; a sister, Martha Mae Muldowney; a great niece, Jennifer Fuller; and great nephew, Paul Fuller.

FUNERAL NOTICE Mary E. Hooper, 71, of 35 South Walnut Street, Mount Carmel – Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace United Church of Christ, 136 East 3rd Street, Mount Carmel, with Reverend Joan Brown, officiating. Visitation will be held at Grace United Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in care of C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N Vine Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851 to help the family defray funeral expenses.
