Obituary for Mary E. Packingham Mary E. Packingham, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018, at her residence. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mary was born July 9, 1947, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harold and Virginia (Scheitzach) Kumm.

She graduated from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse and earned her LPN degree at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. On June 25, 1988, Mary was united in marriage to Dennis L. Packingham. She was a nurse for 24 years at Mercy Hospital, Living Center West, and private nursing agencies.

Mary enjoyed fishing and bowling. She loved to play the slots and was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. Mary was a cantor and choir member at St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Gold Finch Chapter.

She was a club secretary and president of the Euro-NCO. Mary is survived by daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Michalec of Cedar Rapids; step-children, Jim Packingham, Brenda Heims, Robert Packingham, and Heather (Matt) Shook; twenty-four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Judith Scholl and Kathleen Foust; and best friend David Huston of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; and son, James Werner, Jr. Memorial donations in Mary’s name may be directed to the family at: 1701 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404.
